Pi Good Food Box is building off of our pilot program this summer, Paideia Urban Ag, and providing sliding scale Fall and Spring CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) programs. Each CSA will last 10 weeks and provide a weekly box of fresh produce, milk, eggs, and bread to participating families. Additionally, we’ll be provided two organic pastured chickens and bi-weekly organic local cheese over the course of the CSA.
Through the CSA program, we aim to engage the whole Paideia community to support food equity and local businesses. With a sliding scale, people pay what they can afford. When a community buys into the sliding scale CSA model, we are able to make good food accessible to everyone in the Paideia community, while giving farmers and local businesses a fair price for their products. We are first and foremost supporting our community but we are also supporting our local economy as well. During these difficult and strange times, we have each other’s back. This is community resiliency.
Consistent with the Paideia Framework of Values, this project ensures that even in a time of crisis, we are practicing our values of Social Responsibility, which tells us, “Social responsibility encompasses compassion for others, responsibility for working on solutions to the problems of our immediate community and of the larger national and international community.”
